We reached a major milestone last month, opening our 100th Point-of-Presence (PoP). Since January 2018, we’ve increased our global network capacity by more than 40 percent to 50Tbps of egress capacity today – and that number is rising every day. Having more egress capacity around the globe will help us meet the growing demands for the fastest and most reliable delivery of every type of content.

Our caching technology is also being embedded much deeper into service provider networks thanks to our partnership with Ericsson Edge Gravity. Limelight is now the exclusive provider of content delivery capabilities for Ericsson’s global scale edge cloud platform with points of presence within more than 40 service provider networks. We’ve already converted 19 locations across 8 countries including Thailand, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Australia with more to come. In addition to adding network capacity via new Ericsson locations, we’ve increased capacity in existing Limelight PoPs and are building new PoPs in geographies that are important to our customers.

We also continue to focus on expanding our caching server capacity at the edge, with much of this additional capacity coming through software enhancements. At the beginning of 2019, we had 28 terabits per second of edge server capacity. We are well on our way to achieving 50 terabits per second of server capacity by the end of the year, with approximately half of that increase coming from a new version of our EdgePrism software that provides increased server performance and throughput. This new version of Limelight’s EdgePrism content caching and delivery software optimizes the processing power in each server and has already been deployed on almost 90% of our servers.

It’s clear that continued investment in our network and software is paying off, resulting in broader coverage, greater capacity, increased network performance, and a superior quality of experience for our customers – and yours.
